Mahindra & Mahindra acquires Ssangyong Motor Co

by Hemz on Aug.13, 2010, under Cars and Bikes, Indianomics

It was reported that Mahindra is all set to buy the troubled South Korean automaker Ssangyong Motor Company. In the process, they beat 5 other bidders including Renault and Ruia Group of India.

This comes as a major acquisition since it is for sure going to fuel the growth of Mahindra in global markets where the company is trying hard to make its presence felt. What would be exiting enough for Indian markets would be the cars and the technology that Ssangyong brings in and how Mahindra are able to incorporate the same under their portfolio. Given that they already have technologically advanced with Mirco Hybrids and now Reva’s Electric technology, they are the hidden tigers at present who are all set to prowl in a year or two with brilliant products.

Ssangyong is good products in the SUV area though it only has a 2% overall market share in Korean market. This is where M&M finds solace with Ssangyong. The design language too can be an inspiration for future M&M cars. Its high time we saw a new Scorpio. Common guys, give us something more awe-inspiring stuff. (continue reading…)

Red Bull display their machinery

by Hemz on Oct.09, 2009, under Cars and Bikes, City of Dreams, Mumbai, Formula1

Come Sunday and all the F1 fans can feast their eyes with a RBR F1 car doing rounds on the recently inaugurated Bandra Worli sea link. The RBR 02 2005 car of David Coulthard will cruise on the sea link. The authorities had given their NOC to the event management company for the event with a raider. The election commission has to also approve since the state elections are just so close. Initially plans were put on hold but with their approval coming, the car can zoom.

But there is a catch. The Red Bull team will not be able to display the true speed. David will have to run the car just 20kmph above the pit land speed. That is not exceeding the 100 kmph. This might be a bit disappointing for all the F1 fans and Red Bull. Hope to catch the glimpse of the RBR.

Tata Nano: Space and Interiors

by Hemz on Mar.22, 2009, under Cars and Bikes, Indianomics

The space of the small car is maximized in the inside for comfort, however taking a baggage is a concern. The back-engined Nano does not offer luggage space in the front, but actually behind. This space is smaller and may not gobble up much of your luggage. If you are not having rear passengers, you have an option of adjusting the rear seats to accomodate your luggage. Or if you have, then you are stuck with it.

The AC has been reported to be good enuf to combat the heat for April and May. As compared to the AC which comes with Maruti 800, it is better. (reports Zee Business)

Interior plastic is not top – notch and you may feel the cheap plastic keeping in the theme with its cost. So don’t be surprised.
