Petrol pricing shouldnt be free
by Hemz on Feb.05, 2010, under Indianomics
If this had happened, the petrol price would have set us back by INR 90 for a liter when the crude oil touched $150 per barrel.
In India, Petrol and Diesel prices are subsidized so that common man can affort it. But a free market will mean boom for petrol companies than for the Common man. With food prices already sky high, this would add much to the misery of a Common man. He would have more burden to share and more hours to put at his work.
Issues with the Common Man
- Poor Salary rise in the wake of recent recession
- Hikes ranging from 4% of CTC to just 5% of Basic salary component.
- Saving rate down by 23% (an estimate based on my own calculations)
- Prices of Essential commodities have increased
- Food prices increased; sugar, toor dal etc. heavily affected
- Job security issues
- Limited spending – which in turn effects the overall economy.
All this is just a small snippet of what could be a much more worse scenario. Why the sudden price hike is being debated madly between the names that be, but over all scenario has put all the politicians to blame.
Its been circulated in the internet media that politicians are using this price manipulation technique to fill up their coffers and also to ensure their votebank also stays loyal.
Painfully Sweet Memories
by Hemz on Jan.18, 2010, under Personal
I have been out of Blogging for a high time now and hope to start blogging regularly again.
What prompted me to write this blog today has a lot to do with relationships that I have shared with a few, but very important individuals in my life. Some spent time together with me because I was a close friend, some did that because I was a bit more than their best friends.
But it often happens that the people we tend to miss a lot give you more of that opportunity. And today was one such day that I missed a very special friend. Of course I will not be able to name them, and you may not even know that person. When friendship gets real close, you get used to being with that person and when he/she moves away, you miss them a lot. Even if you are still in touch, a change in that relationship is always gonna hurt you more.
This hurt is also sweet. By Sweet, I mean to say that you enjoy thinking about those memories that make you happy and wish he/she were still there with you. I dont know if you understand my feelings, because I am not really clear what should I reveal and what should not since the other person should not really read this.
Put your two cents of thought as Comments on this post.
A Noble prize for Filth
by Hemz on Nov.21, 2009, under City of Dreams, Mumbai, Indianomics
Well, this isnt what the Noble prize committee saying… but our own Environment Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh’s words.
He is right when he says that our municipality do not have proper mechanism for cleaning the garbage left behind by the citizens. Now how does that explain the efficiency?
I have a slightly different opinion on this.
Its people should also contribute by following proper disposal ways. Indians have a habit of taking things for granted. We all do throw things out in open and then we claim that the municipality isn’t doing its work. Secondly, there is no one who will stand infront of the municipality and question their work.
The babus have so much become accustomed with taking bribes, that for everything, they need something. Without which, your work request will keep lagging. I have heard so many stories, which makes me not to even approach anyone.
India Angered!
by Hemz on Nov.18, 2009, under Indianomics
Indians have something against China and the same vice-versa.
When the world’s most powerful man tells China to oversee the peace talks between India and Pakistan, it would ofcourse anger the Indians.
Zee News reported:
The Ministry of External Affairs said that it had objections to Obama giving China a greater role in South Asian affairs, adding a third country’s role cannot be envisaged in the bilateral relationships between countries of the region.
This is a wake up call to all those who are ruling the country.
Art of Chilling @ Fosters
by Hemz on Nov.17, 2009, under Entertainment, Personal, Wild Life
Foster’s AOC (Art of Chilling) party is an exclusive [only by Invite] event.
For me, the last two months have been very hectic… that was also evident from my blog. I did justice only once a month, effectively, two posts in two months. Which is sad but lets just hope things to change! Sorry my regulars…
So let me take you back to what I want to share. Good friend Renie Ravin, the Founder and Web Architech of IndiBlogger.in send a mail informing the exclusive entry pass available for me so that I can unwind myself. It was for the Foster’s Art of Chilling. Last time around too I had got an invite, but I wasnt able to go. But this time, I was destined to.
These guys know how to party, and Foster’s is really famous for that. I had asked all my lady friends out, and a few agreed… So finally, I had two of the ladies coming but there was a problem. I had to get the number of people in Even numbers, so either I had to get a friend along or I had to get one more lady.
I rang up Renie many times to confirm which combination will work for me and updated the status so that I can secure passes. He was patient and always took the call and tried to help out. Finally, it did work out.
We reached the event albeit late owning to the honky traffic at Kurla. The journey towards the event was actually bad but so immersed were we in the thought “Art of Chilling” that we did not feel we were wasted by the traffic.
Location: The Club, Andheri West, Mumbai
Event: The Foster’s Art of Chilling
- The Art of Chilling

To start off with, the music that was being played was cool and was going with the environment. For those who dont drink Beer, there was a special arrangement. The Coconut. The moment you had that with a Pool side party gives you a Hawaiian kick. That is why I keep saying that these guys know how to to Rock!
The food was awesome and in numerous variety to suite different tastes. The moment some one has a can of the Foster’s Beer within such an environment, it can send chills down your spine.
Foster’s Rock.
